2021 Chevrolet Suburban Reveal & Details

In this video, Edmunds shows the reveal of the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban. Join host Travis Langness as he explores the exterior, engine choices and transmission of this capable family hauler.

The Chevrolet Suburban is Chevy’s biggest SUV. It and the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe, also redesigned, are built on the same platform that underpins the Chevy Silverado 1500, and both have three rows of seating and enough space for the whole family.

Chevy redesigned the Silverado for 2020 and has now applied that same architecture to usher in the 12th generation of the Suburban and Tahoe.

Bumper to bumper, the Suburban gains about an inch in length, and the wheelbase grows from 130 to 134 inches. This change translates to more interior space with about 2 inches of additional legroom in both the second and third rows.

For its part, the Tahoe is now 6.7 inches longer than before (up from 204 inches to 210.7) and has a 4.9-inch-longer wheelbase (up from 116 inches to 120.9). On the inside, this means more legroom in the rear: an additional 3 inches in the second row and more than 10 inches of added legroom in the third row.

For power, there’s a standard 5.3-liter V8, an optional 6.2-liter V8, or Chevy’s new turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel inline-six. All three engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

    Very impressed GM!

Ultimate family vehicle is a mini-van, it finally has cargo space of a mini-van while being much larger and more expensive (Most mini-vans have 140-150 cubic feet). If you have a large family and only have one car and need to haul horses or a boat then sure great family vehicle.

Well I guess I could sell my house and live in this. Great for camping. Say goodbye to sleeping in a tent.

I like the new push-button shifter. The column shifter just made it feel like an old Buick or something. I tend to prefer the floor shifter but i understand that they are trying to free up space in the middle, so this is probably the best solution.

Armada is a garbage product. A pizza box is built better.

This looks promising, perhaps GM is done putting crap interiors in their products? Will this truly be competitive with the new Expedition? I'm hopeful.

until it costs 35k and gets 26-30mpg, it's NOT A FAMILY HAULER, that's a mini van. No one can afford 4 kids and 80k….just not happening.

$100 on gas a week, east! $400 a month on gas, easy! ⛽️

I will never buy cuz gm don’t know how to build transmission and engine cuz my 2015 S twice gave up on transmission and engine

That diesel is real exciting. 30mpg in a suburban is insane. I remember when 4 door compact cars would get that kind of fuel economy and I was happy with it.

something as basic as whether this new design provides a reclining seat back in the second row gets completely overlooked. this is something very important to passenger comfort and all reviewers I have seen sit in the back seat, scoot it forward and back like a nerd, but don't ever mention of the back rest reclines… weak…

Chevy goes with push button gear selector
